Ed Roberts joins Omega RE as Graduate Commercial Surveyor

It’s now been nearly a month since Ed Roberts, our newest team member, joined Omega RE as a Graduate Commercial Surveyor. We’re thrilled to have him and the last few weeks have flown by. But, rather than keeping him all to ourselves, we thought it was well and truly time for everyone else to meet him.

Tell us about yourself

I’m a recent graduate of Oxford Brookes University where I studied Real Estate BSc and achieved upper second-class honours. Shortly after turning 18, I completed a week’s work experience in London with CBGA Robson. I credit this experience as the first time my eyes were opened to the built environment and since then my interest in property has blossomed.

What inspired you to work in a commercial agency?

My passion for commercial agency was ignited whilst learning about the industry within my commercial property module at university. I have always loved business from an academic perspective and can see how this has transferred into my preference for dealing with commercial clients. Working in retail since the age of 16 has allowed my interpersonal skills to grow. I have learnt to adapt my customer service & sales techniques into my approach for agency.

What do you think of your first few weeks at Omega RE?

I admire Nella and Jonathan’s approach to commercial agency and feel very fortunate to call them my mentors. I love how my morals and beliefs align with Omega’s, their emphasis on integrity and ESG principles are what initially drew me to the business.  I look forward to working alongside the team on our journey to become the South Coast’s best commercial real estate advisors.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

As a person, I’m very family orientated. I cherish the ones close to me, which is ironic as my grandparents live next door to my family home. Alongside this, I am a huge lover of all animals, particularly my 19-year-old cat named Malley.

One persistent feature of my upbringing is my involvement in team sports. I have played hockey since the age of 6 and still play when I get the chance. I support Liverpool FC, play tennis when the sun is out, sail in Emsworth harbour and will challenge anyone to a game of table tennis.

On my weekends I enjoy attending live shows like concerts & comedy clubs, my favourite being Top Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden. I find myself going to London quite often as it is rife with culture and great nightlife spots. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve attended the V&A museum or enjoyed a pint at one of Soho’s many bars.

What are your career dreams and aspirations?

So far at Omega RE I only have good things to say about the business and the wider industry. This positive start to my career has encouraged me to remain on my path and do everything possible in my pursuit of job fulfilment and satisfaction. In the long term, I can see myself staying based on the South Coast. The area offers such great opportunities with people from all walks of life, and I can’t wait to evolve along with it.

I’ve quickly learnt that Omega RE is a great team and a force to be reckoned with, I know that we will continue to strive for greatness as Omega inevitably expands.

Thanks again Ed, and welcome to our team!
